Wow, this month has flown by and we're into the last week before the break already. As usual, we've got a lot to do and some great activities planned. I'm sending this home a little early so you'll know what's going on.
MATH TEST
Since we had almost a third of the class away on Friday, quite a few students will be writing their tests on Monday. I'll have tests back by Tuesday and would appreciate any corrections in by Thursday. Please make sure your child does their corrections on a separate sheet of paper.
GRAPHIC NOVELS
Graphic novels (including self evaluation, title page, about-the-author page and back cover) are due TUESDAY. I've attached a copy of the requirements/self-evaluation. These are going to be impressive and I'm trying to think of some ways to share them with everyone. I'm really looking forward to reading them.
CHRISTMAS CRAFT WORKSHOPS
Mr. Sandhu, Mrs. Anderson and I are each hosting a different craft in our rooms this week. Our classes will visit each room for an afternoon to do them - running Tuesday to Wednesday. Please send a wallet size photo, some small candy for decorating and $3 to school to support this activity.
ICE SKATING
Wednesday is the big day! We will be skating between recess and lunch. Your child will need a helmet, skates and preferable gloves or mittens. I'm still waiting for some permission slips and only one person has come to me saying they need skates. Please make sure your child is prepared for this fun outing.
SUSHI LESSON & LUNCH
Thursday is Mrs. Anderson's wrap up for the Japan unit. Students will learn how to roll sushi and participate in a luncheon. Thank you to all those parents who are sending supplies and time, especially Mr. Faraday who is generously donating rice for 65 people! We couldn't do it without any of you.
LOST AND FOUND, LOCKER & DESK CLEAN UP
Everything must go! Well not everything, but most personal belongings and older projects will be coming home. I have been encouraging students to take a little something home everyday so they are not left with too much to carry on Friday. If your child is leaving for vacation earlier than that, please remind them to bring everything home. Items in both the classroom and school lost and found will be donated to charity if not claimed this week.
SECRET SANTA
Gifts should be in by Wednesday and we'll do the exchange on Friday.
PYJAMA DAY
Friday is the class' earned reward of a pyjama day and movie. If you are sending popcorn to school, please make sure it is pre-popped, since many classes will be hosting similar activities and we don't have the facilities to pop corn for everyone.
Enjoy the sunshine,
Pam
